An Historic Area is a neighborhood or street documented with a Massachusetts Historical Commission Area Form (A). Areas must be at least 50 years old and are chosen because of their historical or architectural interest, visual cohesiveness, and/or because they embody a particular sense of place. In some cases, Historic Areas were later nominated to the National Register of Historic Places as National Register Historic Districts.
